ABSTRACT

The government agencies, worldwide, are implementing the guidelines given by the World Health Organization (WHO) to mitigate the rise in the number of cases of COVID-19. Due to the lockdown imposed during the outbreak of COVID-19, there has been a disruption of economies especially for micro enterprises. Therefore, there is a need of a solution which can facilitate continuity of work at workplaces, while ensuring that social distancing norms are being followed. An IoT based solution has been proposed through this paper which satiates this need. The device detects the moving person in the vicinity of 3-meters using Ultrasonic and Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors. Different Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) of the Neopixel ring glow according to the distance between the approaching person and the user. The buzzer in the system buzzes when the distance is less than 175 cm. The proposed de vice will be a viable solution for micro enterprises as workers can work safely even during strict lock-downs due to the waves of the pandemic. © 2022 IEEE.
